Unknown Mortal Orchestra have today shared “Weekend Run”, their first new solo material in 3 years. This follows on from Sex & Food and IC-01 Hanoi which were both released in 2018. In the time since the albums UMO have collaborated with the likes of Gorillaz on their Song Machine Season 1 album and The Free Nationals.
Summery chords and a dystopian feel that only Ruban Nielson and co. could bring to this psyched-out disco ballad, UMO are back as strong as ever. The track focuses on Nielson’s move to palm springs after relentless touring behind Sex & Food. “At the end of the day I don’t take for granted that I have the perfect job – I truly work to make music that will set someone’s day right and I think that shines through on Weekend Run” he reflects in a press release.
