Abi Sinclair aka Sister Lucy has shared new single “Big Kid“, the follow up to debut single “Dream“. Both singles will appear on her debut EP Big Girl Pants, out in November. The South-East London songwriter will also headline Shacklewell Arms, London on Wednesday 10th of November.
On “Big Kid” Sinclair embraces the challenge of ageing whilst still trying to hold on youth. She transitions from the playful opening singing of “Big Girl Pants drying in the breeze” to a more assuredly melancholy chorus, eventually evolving into a symphony of guitars and melodies. Once again embracing her inner Angel Olsen, especially during the bridge that evokes the same aesthetics that were found all over her 2016 release My Woman. There’s a playfulness that Sinclair brings to the new single that is simultaneously joyous and captivating.
Speaking about the track Sinclair said:
“The phrase Big Kid describes my permanent state of existence and my need for daily escapism” – “It’s my nostalgia for childhood simplicity and the longing to break out of mundane adulthood.”
